Working in Governance
SOP manual for the Governance area covering entity registers, authority review, board packs, resolutions, and delegation tracking.
Working in Governance
This page shows internal users how to use the current Governance routes for structured review of corporate records. These pages are strong for register and status review, but they are not yet a complete end-to-end secretariat workflow.
Product: VerityLaw
Module: Governance
Role: Governance officer, legal operations lead, company-secretariat support, internal reviewer
Difficulty: Intermediate
Time: 8 to 10 minutes
Last Updated: 2026-03-10
Version: Current repo baseline
Before You Start
- Sign in to the internal VerityLaw dashboard.
- Know the entity, board item, or delegation you need to review.
- Be ready to work from existing records rather than assuming every governance process is editable from these pages.
What is the Governance area?
The Governance area is the internal register and oversight space for entities, authority rules, board packs, resolutions, and delegations. In plain language, it helps you see the current governance picture without leaving the dashboard.
When do you use this?
Use these routes when you need to confirm entity details, review signing authority, inspect board-pack status, read resolution records, or track delegations and expiry. Use them before you advise a team that authority exists or that a governance record has been completed.
Where do you find it?
Primary path: Dashboard -> left sidebar -> Governance
Current routes:
/dashboard/governance/dashboard/governance/entities/dashboard/governance/authority/dashboard/governance/board-packs/dashboard/governance/resolutions/dashboard/governance/delegations
How do you work in Governance?
Start from the Governance launcher
- Open Governance.
- Use the launcher cards to choose the correct register.
- Do not treat the landing page as a report by itself. It is a navigation surface into the governance records.
Review the entity register
- Open Entities.
- Confirm the Name, Registration Number, Type, Jurisdiction, and Status.
- Use status to check whether an entity is active, dormant, or otherwise not currently in normal operation.
- Treat this page as the current visible entity register.
Review the authority matrix
- Open Authority Matrix.
- Review authority rows under the correct entity heading.
- Confirm the Role, Action, Limit, and Conditions.
- Watch for badges such as Dual signatory and Board approval.
- Use this page before approving a sign-off path or payment authority assumption.
Review board packs and resolutions
- Open Board Packs when you need meeting-pack status.
- Confirm the Title, Entity, Meeting Date, Type, and Status.
- Open Resolutions when you need a corporate decision record.
- Confirm the Title, Entity, Type, Proposed By, and Status.
- Treat both screens as current registers, not full drafting workflows.
Track delegations
- Open Delegations.
- Review the summary cards for Total, Active, and Expired.
- In the table, confirm the Grantor, Grantee, Scope, Start, End, and Status.
- Use the end date and status before relying on a delegation that may already have expired.
What if something does not look right?
"The page says create or manage, but I only see a list"
What it means: Several governance routes are register-first in the current build.
What to do: Use them for review and evidence. Do not promise a visible authoring workflow unless the page actually exposes it.
"I need to know whether approval is required"
What it means: The authority page stores conditions, not the approval execution itself.
What to do: Check the authority conditions first, then follow your internal governance process outside the route if approval must be obtained.
"The register is empty"
What it means: No governance records are visible for that route in the current environment.
What to do: Confirm you are in the correct organisation context, then escalate data setup instead of assuming the route is broken.
