Navigation and Layout
How navigation works across the VerityLaw staff dashboard and client portal surfaces.
Finding Your Way Around VerityLaw
This page shows you how navigation works across the current VerityLaw workspaces so you can find pages without guessing.
Product: VerityLaw
Module: Navigation
Role: Any user
Difficulty: Beginner
Time: 5 minutes
Last Updated: 2026-03-10
Version: Current repo baseline
Before You Start
- Know which workspace you are in.
- Be ready to read the page title before entering data.
What is this page about?
This page explains the layout of the current UI. It is the map, not the destination.
When do you use this?
Use this page when you can log in but do not know where the page lives, when you are helping someone else navigate, or when a label exists in one workspace but not another.
Where do you find the navigation?
Staff dashboard: grouped left sidebar
Portal: top navigation bar
How the layouts work
- In
/dashboard, use the left sidebar groups for the main internal sections:- Overview
- Practice
- Privacy & Compliance
- Finance
- Contracts
- Client Operations
- M&A / Due Diligence
- Tenders
- Governance
- Disputes
- Intelligence
- Verification
- Reports
- API
- Administration
- Many dashboard groups expand into smaller submenus. Read the group label first, then the child page label.
- In
/portal, use the top navigation for client-facing pages:- Dashboard
- Cases
- Documents
- Invoices
- Messages
- Compliance
- Read the page title and breadcrumb before you start typing into forms.
- If the page label is visible but the route is missing, stop and confirm environment scope instead of improvising.
What if navigation does not match what you expected?
"The dashboard menu is huge"
Why this happens: The dashboard is the main internal operating surface, so it carries many route families.
Fix: Start with the group that matches the job. If the work is privacy-related, open Privacy & Compliance. If it is matter-related, open Practice. If it is external-facing, move to portal.
"I found an old admin or law note that does not match the current dashboard"
Why this happens: The repo still contains smaller legacy surfaces, but the dashboard app is the main current user-manual baseline.
Fix: Check Finding the Right VerityLaw Screen and use the dashboard or portal route first.
